A family of chefs runs the kitchen and all the food is prepared and cooked on the premises to a very high standard. The menu is made up of a wide range of mainly traditional dishes from prawn cocktail to beef casserole so everyone is sure to find something to suit their taste and appetite.


Soup of the day served with a homemade bread roll and butter.
The Hill Inn Prawn Cocktail—With Marie Rose sauce and apple, served on a bed of dressed mixed leaves.
Fennel and lemon risotto topped with shaved Parmesan.
The Hill Inn Fishcakes served with a crisp salad and sweet chilli sauce.
Graved Lax served with or without grain mustard dressing and brown bread and butter.
Ratatouille of Mediterranean vegetables and topped with grilled goats cheese.
Pâté de Campagne served with Melba toast and a small dressed salad.


Lamb Shank - served with boulangère potatoes, a tasty lamb gravy, mint sauce and redcurrant jelly.

Grilled delice of salmon served on a bed of chive mash with a light Thai curry sauce.
Stuffed mushroom – Large mushroom filled with ratatouille and chick peas and topped with
Mature Wensleydale cheese.
Beef casserole – Tender beef cooked in red wine with onions, celery & herbs, flavoured lightly with orange served with or without a pie crust.
Ribeye Steak—served with a chive, garlic, and lemon butter.

Sautéed chicken breast served with a white wine, tarragon and cream sauce.

Closed all day Mondays except bank holidays, we serve food from 12.00pm until 2.30pm for lunch then 6.30pm until 8.45pm for dinner except on Saturdays when we resume at 6.00pm.

You can choose to eat in the bar for a more informal meal or in the cosy dining room where some of the stunning sugar craft is on display. Also for larger parties we have the “snug” where up to 16 people can sit around the same table.
